Location

The Copley-Fairlawn area is situated in the heart of northeast Ohio located approximately 35 miles south of Cleveland and adjacent to and west of Akron.


The community includes the City of Fairlawn, Copley Township, and small portions of the City of Akron and Bath Township. Copley is located in Summit County, west of the City of Akron, south of Bath Township and the City of Fairlawn, north of the City of Norton and east of Medina County. The 2020 Census estimated the community’s population at 18,403.


The area is mostly residential with many modern homes and apartments, extensive shopping and dining areas, numerous houses of worship and a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities. The proximity of I-71, I-77, I-76, State Routes 18 and 21 have allowed growth in commercial and light industrial businesses.

The school Board’s website explains that: “Classroom teachers are supported by specialists in reading, guidance, art, music, gifted education, physical education, and intramural sports. The elementary and middle schools receive the services of educational assistants. Psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and tutors work with students. Students with disabilities are provided special classes both in the district and on a tuition basis with other districts.


The district is a member of the Four Cities Joint Vocational Compact with Barberton, Norton, and Wadsworth City Schools. Vocational classes are offered at Copley High School or at the high schools of member districts.”
